History of Inner Wheel Club of St Augustine

The Inner Wheel Club St Augustine was formed on October 15^th 1984 but was actually registered on January 22^nd 1985. The presentation of charter ceremony was held on May 18^th 1985..This is the date we celebrate as our anniversary.

Projects undertaken by the Club

Although not primarily a fund-raising organization, Inner Wheel has projects that go a long way in touching the lives f the less fortunate in our society. In 2003, the Club assisted an eight year old boy diagnose with bladder exstrophy which is a bladder formation on the outside of the lower abdomen by providing financial assistance

The Club has also been assisting University students with financial support as well as persons diagnosed with a medical condition Through the years our projects also range from establishing a library to the Youth Training Centre, providing under privileged children with books, Christmas Treats at schools and assisting families with medical expenses. Last year, our club in collaboration with the Rotary Club built a small apartment for six children who lost their parents.

Last Christmas the Club distributed twenty hampers to underprivileged children within the community. Five of these hampers were received from the Syria/Lebanese Women’s Organisation. The Club also treated the students at Spring Village Hindu School with a Christmas treat.
